The bin itself feels similar to the cheap trash cans sold at Daiso. If you bring your hand close to the sensor, the lid opens and closes after a short while. The lid doesn't close tightly; it only covers slightly, so it doesn't seem to be airtight.
It would be better not to throw away trash that overflows or has a strong smell... Considering the cost-effectiveness, it's not bad at all.
